The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (IRHH) is launching a massive campaign to raise over £100,000 in just one night with a themed Midnight Walk.

IRHH are excited to announce that this year's walk will have a Mardi Gras theme, and invite everyone to dress up and join the party on Saturday 19th June. They are looking for 1,000 women to take part and - back by popular demand - are offering limited places for 100 lucky men!

Last year's event saw a sea of 750 walkers dressed in their Goodnight Walk t-shirts join together for the 11-mile sponsored walk. IRHH was delighted to raise over £100,000 from the event but are determined to smash their record this year!

IRHH's Community Fundraising Manager, Ruth Barber, said: "Last year was so much fun and the atmosphere was electric! We were thrilled to see so many people there and many made the extra effort to dress up and accessorise their t-shirts. This year we are introducing a theme for the evening, Mardi Gras, so grab your grass skirts, garlands, beads, glitz and glamour and come and join the fun! There will be a prize for the best dressed walker, so come on, do your worst!"

Goodnight Walk 2010 - Mardi Gras

The money raised from this event will be vital for the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home. With costs increasing to more than £3million a year and only 12% of funding coming from local Primary Care Trusts, the charity relies on events like the Goodnight Walk to provide the funds needed to offer nursing care and family support to so many families across the Chilterns. In 2010 the charity are celebrating 25 years of continuous 24 hour care, having been founded in 1985 when five nurses helped care for local resident, Iain Rennie, in his own home, enabling him to stay at home during the final days of his life.

Ruth Barber continues: "So ladies - and men! - make a difference to local residents who need our support and sign up now to be part of our 2010 Goodnight Walk challenge. Enjoy the benefits that walking brings whilst training for the event, have a great evening and be one of those that can celebrate Walking the Distance."

The event costs £15 to enter which includes a fabulous Goodnight Walk t-shirt, snacks along the route, medal on completion and a well-earned breakfast. To register for the walk call Fundraising on 01442 890222, visit www.gnwalk.com or email gnwalk@irhh.org.
